12 – Elephants I
There are many elephants in Hwange, some of whom wander across the open border from Chobe National Park in Botswana. The fact that they drink so much means that they are frequently to be seen at water holes. They are so interesting and so intelligent, and I love watching and taking photos of them. If they bore you, jump on a few pages.
We were coming back from a morning game drive, and encountered a traffic jam as we approached the camp
Who was going to give way? Watch this video to find out!
Look at the young ones being protected by the older members of the family on one side of the road
Then somebody decided to investigate from the other side...
...and got very close
Such fun!
In front of the camp there was a watering hole, on the left of this photo...
...which proved to be a great gathering spot for them. Sometimes they came very close, like the one in the foreground...
...and this could be disconcerting if you are having a dip in the plunge pool, while the visitor decides that he is thirsty...
