2 – Kanga Camp
Kanga has three big assets. I encountered the first even on the drive in from the airstrip: the dense woodland encourages large numbers of baboons
As you can see from the two on the right, they spend much time grooming each other
There were also plentiful impala, the most commonly seen member of the deer family – and one of the most beautiful. They can be easily identified by the McDonalds “M” on their rear, and are found even more frequently than those fast-food restaurants
Actually, even more frequently than that: there were more herds of impala around my Zimbabwe camps than there are branches of Chase Bank around my Manhattan apartment
And, just as a Big Mac with large fries and a large Coke (easy on the ice) form a quick snack for humans, so impala are an amuse-bouche for the predators. This one is checking that I am looking only for enjoyment, and not for lunch
